Acne Treatment

Why is laser treatments often more effective than other acne treatments?

Laser treatments have proven successful when other acne treatments have failed. There is no need to take toxic medications. In addition, laser treatments can not only treat acne but also improve the scars caused by acne.

Why are laser treatments better than other types of skin rejuvenation treatments?

Because they are less invasive than other types of treatments. For younger patients that do not need plastic surgery, laser surgery is easier, less painful, and there is no “down time.” For patients who cannot have plastic surgery for medical or other reasons, laser treatments are ideal because they do not require general anesthesia and patients can immediately return to work or daily schedules. Oftentimes, laser surgery will be used to augment plastic surgery to remove the effects of photo damage such as red and brown spots.

How does the laser help acne?

The laser light is able to target just the area that needs to be treated. It is an easy, virtually painless, and effective way to treat active acne and acne scars. When you come for a consultation, our expert staff will explain the specifics of how lasers can remedy your particular skin condition. The results of the procedure are permanent. However, if you have active acne, you may require additional treatments in the future to manage any additional outbreaks.

How many treatments will I need?

It will depend upon your condition. The doctor will evaluate your specific problem and recommend the best and most efficient way to resolve your problem.

Halo

What results can I expect?

Halo is a complete skin rejuvenation treatment. You will see improvements in overall tone and texture in addition to significant removal of discoloration, reduction in fine lines, reduced pore size, skin reflectivity and glow.

How many treatments do I need?

What’s great about Halo is that you can choose how many treatments you want! Discuss with your clinician your needs and you can choose to have one or two more aggressive treatments or have multiple treatments that are less aggressive and achieve a similar goal over a longer period of time.

What happens during the treatment?

Thirty minutes to an hour before the treatment your clinician may place a topical anesthetic on your skin to reduce the sensation during the procedure. The area will be measured with motion tracking technology to ensure the area is treated evenly. The clinician will treat each measured section by uniformly rolling the Halo hand piece over the skin until the system recognizes the treatment is complete.

What does Halo feel like?

Most patients describe the treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations, but are generally comfortable. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 15 to 30 minutes, or a bit longer with deeper treatment levels.

How soon after my treatment can I return to normal activities?

For the first 24 hours you should keep your skin protected according to your clinician’s instructions, but after that you should be able to go about your normal activities. After the first 24 hours your skin will begin to peel, but you will be able to put on makeup. For a facial treatment, you will see very little change on the first day. After two to three days you will develop a light bronzing appearance. By day three or four your skin will peel, revealing your new skin beneath.

When will I see results?

You will see initial results between two and five days after your Halo treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first two to three weeks. This is followed by a dermal regeneration phase that continues to improve for months.

How long will my results last?

Your Halo results will last for years to come, but you should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using UV sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin. Each additional Halo treatment you get will only improve the results, giving you even better looking skin.

Micro Laser Peel

How does Micro Laser Peel work?

The Micro Laser Peel’s beam is scanned over a treatment area to remove a very thin layer of the skin. Removing the top layer eliminates some of the damaged cells that can give skin a tired, aged look. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. The result is healthier-looking skin, often with reduced wrinkles and improved color evenness.

What conditions can be treated with Micro Laser Peel?

Mild wrinkles, scars, keratosis, sun damage (e.g. freckles), pigment irregularities.

Will it be uncomfortable?

One of the primary advantages of MicroLaser Peel is that it causes little pain because it does not penetrate very deep into the skin. At its most shallow settings, most people can tolerate treatment with no anesthetic at all. At deeper settings, a topical numbing cream is typically used.

What should I expect immediately after my treatment?

Immediately following the procedure you will notice that the skin has a “frosty” appearance. This is the dehydrated skin that will peel away within the next few days following the treatment. You may experience some skin redness and a sensation resembling sunburn, as well as mild swelling.

When should I expect results?

Because only the outer layer of skin is treated, most patients notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture and color evenness once the skin heals in approximately 3-4 days.

Skin Resurfacing

What is laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is one of the leading cosmetic procedures in the United States. The process utilizes a laser to minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles, as well as improve the overall texture of the skin.

How does laser skin resurfacing work?

Lasers work by emitting a specialized light that passes through the skin and is preferentially absorbed by water in the damaged collagen of your skin. This action allows the laser light to ablate (evaporate) very fine layers of skin, diminishing the look of the wrinkle and other unwanted textures. The older skin is remodeled into newer skin. As new cells form in the healing process, the skin becomes smoother and softer. Several lasers and light sources are available today for skin resurfacing.

Why choose laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing offers patients many benefits. The procedure is truly “incisionless,” provides consistent results, and offers the surgeon precise control. Its faster recovery time means that it can also delay or eliminate the need for the more invasive face-lift surgery.

Are there the risks or side effects?

Following the correct aftercare procedures will reduce the risk of infection. You will return to us for follow-up visits to ensure excellent healing. As with any surgical procedure, there are risks and side-effects associated with laser skin resurfacing.

How soon will I see results?

Because your skin will heal over a period of several weeks, you may not see the final results until then. As your skin heals, new collagen regenerates and fills in the lines and wrinkles, your results will continue to improve. Results will continue to improve for months.

What aftercare will I need?

It is important to follow all instructions. You will be given skin care products and instructions on how to use them. This will minimize your risk for infection and ensure the shortest healing time. The top layer of your skin will re-grow and be covered with make-up in about one week. Your new skin will be very sensitive to ultra-violet light and you must avoid sun exposure until fully healed. You need to cover your skin, wear a hat and use a good sun screen if you have to go outdoors.

How long will it take me to recover?

Your healing time will depend upon your actual treatment depth, and you may experience erythema (redness) which may last several weeks. Healing time does vary among individuals. We can answer questions about temporary changes to your skin appearance and how it may be camouflaged.

What should I expect after treatment?

It will take a few days to replace the surface of your skin. Redness is common and swelling may be present in the areas treated, however, this should subside in a few hours. We will instruct you how best to care for your healing skin. Your skin will have a residual pink or red color that will dissolve over time.

Skin Tightening Therapy

Most small capillaries will become invisible almost immediately since they will no longer contain blood flow. Some larger areas of cluster vessels will require a longer healing period and may be pink or red or even appear bruised for a short time. Your skin will be sensitive to ultraviolet light and you must avoid direct sunlight on treated areas until you are fully healed.

Will it be uncomfortable?

There should be little to no discomfort, however this varies from client to client and depends on the depth of the treatment.
