Can Botox make you happy? A recent article in The Telegraph provides some research to show it can.
Whether you believe it or not, it’s an interesting topic to pursue.
There are apparently a lot of people who get Botox to make them look happier. In return, they feel happier. And, it’s not just one gender running to get a Botox injection. Women and men want to look happier and less sad, especially over the holidays.
At least one study suggests that Botox actually can reduce depression. According to the article in The Telegraph, “research cited in Aesthetics Journal suggests nine out of 10 patients with major depressive disorder noticed a reduction in symptoms when treated with botulinum toxin, also known as Botox.”
Other experts back up the theory, saying that there is evidence to indicate that if someone looks happier, and they are happier with their appearance, they become happier.
So, can Botox make you happy?
It makes sense that looking happier would make you feel happier. Try just this simple experiment. Stop what you are doing and just smile. Make it a big happy smile, or even let out a little laugh. Don’t you feel a little happier?
Imagine if you looked in the mirror and a happy looking person was looking back at you. How would that make you feel?
Now, imagine if you have frown lines, especially deep ones between your eyebrows, and that’s what you see when you look in the mirror. Does that make you happy or sad?
Happiness can be contagious. When you are around other people in a good mood, it often lifts your mood. If you see someone smile at you, you often smile back. The physical act of smiling can translate to an inner feeling of happiness.
Have you ever had someone ask you what was wrong when nothing was wrong? It’s the look you had on your face and you didn’t even realize it. You want your inner and outer happiness to show. Perhaps Botox is the way to go.
Botox isn’t something you should just jump into because you think it will make you happier. You should do some research and seek consultation.
